Nothing special here.

Interestingly enough, my large.php file keeps creating core dumps in my account. I don’t know why, but I’m gonna try and figure that out one soon enough.

Timbosister: Yes, my large.php is taking a dump on my server. :P …. No comic for this weekend… I’ve got a bundle of shit to take care of. Mostly making larger versions of the first few comics in Moose River Regular, as well as Moose River Deluxe. OK?

OK, here’s the first new comic in well over a week. Nothing special, but I’m just setting the stage for Act 2 of Chapter 3.

BTW, while I’m gonna keep the regular updates flowing, inbetween things I will start working on revising bits of dialogue and art in Chapter 2, as well as make enlarged versions of Moose River Regular (what parts of Chapter 1 I’m missing), as well as Moose River Deluxe. At least now I have the time for it. :D

Sorry, I’ve been MIA for a little bit. Blame it on school. This past week was finals week, so I didn’t get around to any comics. Worse, I’ve hit a bit of writer’s block. I don’t think I’ll have any comics until, like… Monday? I’ll see what I can scrape up.

Fortunately though, summer is now upon me! Huzzah! That means more comics and on a more regular basis. Hopefully. We’ll see. Oh, this also means that I’m gonna be doing some other comic projects too. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna circumvent regular Moose River Regular pages like I did with Muusugawa no Nihon. But uhm… I will be doing a side comics as well. Keep an eye out for a link to a ????? ??? (Nahir al-Muz) proof of concept short story sometime over the summer. Maybe even a Moose River Retails short story as well. I just want to be really really productive this summer! … Does anyone know anything about the Arabic language? I do realize that the Arabic phrase I posted is for the words “moose” and “river” in Arabic. But I also notice that “al-muz” is missing the “al-” letters, leaving just “muz”. Now is the “al-” part implied, or is it actually supposed to be written (as in ????? ?????)?

BTW, if you click on “enlarge this comic”, you’ll be treated to a larger version of today’s… picture. But the difference is that now I’ve set up a super special HIGH DEFINITION version of the site, for you big monitor users. (OK, well not EVERYTHING has been enlarged, like the navigation or the font size… but I’m working on that!) But at least now you can go through the entire comic and read it in ENLARGED MODE. … Well, not exactly ALL the comics, because I have yet to enlarge-convert some of the earlier comics. I’ll work on that over the summer.

Oh uhm… today’s drawing is a silly little thing out of my sketch book.

OK… your total is

This was done on Wednesday, but I couldn’t get around to posting it until just now. Something about having to do two essays for school and overdosing on salt. Anyways, here it is.

In other news, looks like I’ve been Fleen’d!: Moose River Is Great If You Don’t Mind Squinting. Some select quotes from the article include:

“…it’s strangely entertaining, though not quite addictive.”
“The poor handwriting holds this comic back. Few people will be willing to get passed this amateur look to discover a fun storyline.”
“Some of the comic is not as impressive as Phillippe, but only by a little.”

D’oh! Sommer here seems to do a good job of promoting it as much as cut Moose River down. But that’s OK, Moose River Regular was always about me practicing comic composing, about learning to create a kind of style that works best for me and to get my story out. I’m at least greatful that Sommer DOES recognize that it’s all just a start. Still, at least Sommer didn’t call it complete crap! Hell, even if Sommer DID call it crap, at least it just proves that Moose River is SOMETHING to recognize. As opposed to some other comic that is just so piss poor that it isn’t even worth mentioning.

Anyways, that’s three reviews down… more to go! I feel spechul once again…

As for the shitty handwriting deal… well, I have two alternatives. First off… you know the “Enlarge This Comic” thingy? Well, I plan on setting up another comic script where you can traverse through the entire story while reading the enlarged version. The enlarged version looks really nice on bigger monitors, especailly flat screen ones. Being able to read the entire comic using the enlarged versions should be something everyone’s clammoring about. You’ll see what I mean in due time.

Now If THAT doesn’t clear up the whole “your handwriting SUCKS” criticism deal, I suppose I COULD just create my own font (one that’s legible and equally sized), then go back and rewrite all the text using the newer, easier to read font. But that’ll take far more time than I have to spend, so I’ll hold off on THAT plan until it proves to be completely necessary. The only reason why I don’t type the text is because it takes far too much of my time to do so. Likewise, the art is pretty simple because it’s easier for me to churn out a page in class. I mean it’s not like I’m incapable of drawing somewhat halfway decent. :D

I SWEAR though, my handwriting is completely legable! It’s just that the limitations of pixels tend to cut out a lot of the finer details. It looks FAR much better in print, which is my ideal format anyways.

There’s also the fact that I like to deal with subtleties a lot to consider. Some of the text is PURPOSEFULLY illegible, just to make it sort of easter-eggy. Little words under people’s breath, or the use of an IP address as someone’s phone number (as it is on Jorge’s business card in today’s comic). Little things you may not notice right away but sort of rewarding if you spot it. :D

Comics may be few and far between within the next week or so. This week is the last week of normal classes for the semester, and next week is finals week. Afterwards I’m free! Huzzah! … I’ll see what I can squeeze in though.

Anyways…. Betty sure is pretty tight lipped around Jorge about her past. Betty obviously remembers SOMETHING tramatic happening. But does Jorge remember it? Does he care? Is he interested in trying up some loose ends?? OMG FIND OUT

I like your website, looks pretty good

HAHAHA, a pirate?! That’s a good one!

Shea talks like a southern pirate when she’s drunk?

Man, I can’t wait for Super Smash Bros Brawl. Zero Suit Samus is hella hot (and playable), and there’s also Snake…. Snake…. SNAAAAAAKKKEEEE!!!!

Jimmy (May 12, 2006, 16:05):
I find it funny that the lead of XBox said people will own two consoles: an XBox 360 and a Wii… all for the price of one PS3. =P

Plippy (May 12, 2006, 13:59):
Vlad: Don’t worry, ’round here, Wii != penial jokes. I’m gonna own a PS3 for sure, but my first purchase will be a Wii. :D I’m predicting that even if PS3 still wins this round of the console wars, it won’t have the same commanding lead the PS2 has over XBox and the GameCube. I’d like to think that Wii wins this round outright. :D

Vlad Damien (May 12, 2006, 8:26):
Heh, my buddies and I always do the SNAAAAKE! thing :)
Yeah, I’m all for Wii!… ahem.
