Last night Emo gave me those

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

OK, here’s the deal. I’m spending the rest of what free time I have left packing and getting some last minute stuff done. Just a reminder, I’m gonna be gone for two weeks between Chicago and New York City Baltimore, visiting friends and running a booth at Wizard World Chicago. So I won’t be able to get to any new comics while I’m gone, but I WILL most likely be doing more comics while on vacation. Then of course I’ll post them as soon as I get back. I plan on having Chapter 3 done while I’m on vacation. Let’s see if I can do it.

BTW, if you’re checking me out for the first time after finding out about Moose River at Wizard World Chicago, WELCOME! I hope you’ve enjoyed what comics you might have read so far. If you bought copies of Moose River Regular #1 and #2, you can pick up where the mini-comics left off here.

As for the rest of you guys, take a load off, relax, and enjoy this little fake DVD box cover I made for the Criterion Collection version of Moose River the movie. :)

Oh also, when I come back from my vacation, the Moose River site will be down and not uptated for a little while. I decided to switch from Fuitadnet to Dreamhost (especailly since Dreamhost has this pretty awesome hosting plan). I didn’t want to do the move before vacation, mostly because I didn’t want the site to be down during Wizard World Chicago…. so when I come back, it’ll be moved. OK? So at least this time when it goes down, you’ll know why.

Forgot to ask, are there really only 12 or so folks reading this? I almost find that hard to believe…

Well I got to thinking

OK, everything is done with. My summer is over, my trip to Chicago and Maryland has been over, the site transfer from Fuitadnet to Dreamhost is done with… basically now I’m ready to start up the comics again. After a month. Hope you enjoyed this little break!

The fun part now begins as I go through my archives and slowly reformat all my old comics to the new format seen here. I spent all of last night changing my Photoshop Actions from the old style to the new style. As you’ll notice, the comic is now simply called Moose River. I’ll reflect this change throughout the site later.

Sleep. More talk later.

OK, here’s the deal. Wizard World Chicago is in two weeks time… which means for the next two weeks I’m gonna be busting my ass in getting my booth in awesome condition. I still plan on doing comics on a regular basis between then and now, but for AT LEAST two weeks between August 1st and August 14th, I’m not gonna be updating the site with any comics or whatnot. (It might be even a few days after the 14th before I can actually update regularly again.)

To which…. if anyone wants to give me guest comics to fill in two weeks worth of updates, then feel free to send me some! I’d love to have some fans (the twelve of you at least) fill in for me while I’m vacationing. :) I’ll be able to post them to the site, no problem… I’ll still have access to the internet, I just won’t be able to scan and edit comics while I’m away from my main computer.

Oh, even though Wizard World Chicago is only for three-ish days, my vacation time is two weeks because I’ma gonna be visiting friends and… more friends between Chicago and New York City. Whydoncha swing by my booth??

Dude… when you live in Lodi, did you

Wow, what a weekend! Anyways… this was actually a comic I had to make before I posted any others… I kinda felt that the last comic wasn’t enough to properly introduce Thaddeus with, so I added some extra tidbits which I feel help flesh him out a bit.

Roscoe: I am a master of subtlety!

Roscoe (Jul 19, 2006, 23:24):
Oh, and Thaddeus… Just that title on the book by itself was rather… interesting…

Roscoe (Jul 19, 2006, 23:21):
Dang it. No wonder theres been no new comics. My bookmark wouldn’t take me to the updated site page each time. Doh! Hmm, maybe it will work now?

If I enlarge the comic I can read the text on the book just fine. If you learn *anything* from reading this comic at all, never ignore the background or the slightly out of focus details (I use “out of focus” both figuratively and literally)…

Final comment: Yes, forums would be rather cool. It might actually give you an accurate number of how many people actually read this comic. :P

Plippy (Jul 19, 2006, 13:52):
I also should be setting up a new forum for this site… maybe. I dunno. I kinda like the discussions we have in this comments sidebar, but I’d also like to talk to people without having the conversation disappear once a new page is added….

Plippy (Jul 19, 2006, 5:24):
Note to self: redo text on Thad’s book… it’s pretty difficult to read. (BTW, the title of the book is supposed to say “How To Win Friends”)

So… d’you just

Nothing special with today’s comic. Actually, today’s comic is the official introduction of Thaddeus Guyy. Avery’s memory is sharp, Thaddeus is the guy who Avery shortly chatted with all the way in the beginning of the story. Bearing in mind that the first three chapters are meant to be strictly an introduction to everyone, the fact that Thaddeus is pretty mysterious and unknown (at this point) should give you a nice idea of what kind of person Thad is. :)

Plippy (Jul 15, 2006, 15:18):
Vio: I’m pretty much done with introducing all the main characters involved (more or less). Anyone else new I add will not be a new character. I dunno if that’s a good idea to do or not, but hey, this is why I’m doing this comic (to hone my writing skills). :)

Plippy (Jul 15, 2006, 15:16):
M. Lopez: Thank you very much!! Please, tell your friends about it! (I need all the exposure I can get…)

vio (Jul 15, 2006, 10:38):
i just saw the redone comic way back..
hrm, i couldnt get to your website for awhile.. was weird D:

keep introducing more characters until people’s head starts to explode!

M. Lopez (Jul 15, 2006, 2:39):
I just want to say that I’ve enjoyed your comic. Keep up the good work!
